NYC!!

Becky and I decided to go visit New York City for a few days to meet up with some English friends that we met 2 years ago while in Germany. We got there on a Wednesday afternoon, just in time to check in to our hotel, freshen up, eat supper, and go to meeting. We stayed at a Marriott Hotel in downtown New York in the financial district. We were only 2 blocks from where the World Trade Center had stood. You couldn't really see much since the whole area was under construction, but there obviously a huge gap where the buildings had once stood. The globe that you see in the pictures below was the only recognizable piece left that was salvaged from the disaster. We also got to see the Statue of Liberty, the Brooklyn bridge, the craziness of Time Square, a Bodies Exhibit, and we seen the Phantom of the Opera Musical. That is my favorite musical and I just love the music. It inspires me to want to sing opera. Anyhow, we met up with our English friends (Ray and Norman) on Friday evening at a restaurant. Then, we met up with another one of the young friends who lives in the city, then another couple showed up that happened to be visiting. Then, we met Norman's girlfriend who came in from Pennsylvania. So, it was a fun group to hang out with. We had an engineer, professional artist, a travel agent/massage therapist, banker (me), 2 fashion designers, a hyper goofball,....then by Sunday, we got together for lunch after meeting and also met a young doctor, and a math genius. So, we had quite the funny and extreme personalities, sort of group. We varied in ages from probably 19-35. Anyhow, we had a lot of fun getting to know each other. You would never see such a diverse group getting along like this in the world, but we all share the same faith, so it worked out very well. The time went by so fast, but it was pretty sweet! Anyhow, I shall have to post more pictures on here when time allows me to do so. Now, I'm ready for another vacation!
